Huron Heights

Location

Huron Heights is a large neighbourhood located in the Northeast end of London, Ontario. It falls to the west of Clarke Road between the Thames River and Oxford Street East. This area is regarded as student and budget-friendly due to its proximity to Fanshawe College. In addition to housing students, it is home to many families and a variety of housing options. The location of Huron Heights offers quick access to LTC stops, amenities and major roads in the city. This is a great area to live in for buyers with lower budgets seeking a well-serviced environment.

Neighbourhood

This neighbourhood is home to many different properties that are great for students, young professionals and families with a tighter budget. There is a mix of older student homes for rent, condominiums and single detached houses. The area is also full of three-storey walk-ups, larger apartment buildings and plenty of post-war bungalows. Because of the large variety of sizes and types of homes in the neighborhood, there is a decent price range of homes within Huron Heights.

There are a few parks in the area including Huronview ParkPawnee ParkFarmborough Park and Cayuga Park. Together, these provide basketball courts, play structures, swing sets, paved paths and accessible green areas. Residents can also take advantage of the North London Optimist Community Centre. Here, the community can engage in a ton of activities such as gymnastics, squash, tennis, roller skating etc. The Stronach Community Centre is also nearby which features a skateboard park, an outdoor pool, a baseball diamond and two ice surfaces.

Huron Heights is a unique neighbourhood for schooling. Along with French immersion, public and Catholic choices, there are two renowned schools located within.

Robarts School for the Deaf is one of only four schools in Ontario built solely for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Also in the neighbourhood is Fanshawe College which, as of 2017, has approximately 43,000 students enrolled. Western University is also within proximity – about a ten-minute drive from Huron Heights. Due to the large population of post-secondary students, there are many houses for rent in the area – mainly occupied by students.
