Hyde Park

Location

Hyde Park is an up and coming neighbourhood in the northwest end of London, Ontario! Significant developments in the neighbourhood have turned this once-rural area into a thriving residential and shopping district. With a major road expansion underway and a ton of commercial development, it comes as no surprise that this is a desired part of the city to live in. Homeowners never have to leave this end of town for all necessary amenities, entertainment, and restaurants. The boundaries of this neighborhood go from Fanshawe Park Road down to Sarnia Road, and stretch from the wooded area to the West of Hyde Park Road over to Aldersbrook Road. Gainsborough Road cuts through the middle of this neighborhood.

Neighbourhood

Buyers can expect to see a ton of single detached homes, large apartment buildings, and plenty of townhouses within the area. Because there is such a variety, residents in this neighborhood range from young professionals living in brand-new high-rise apartments to a five-person family living in a single detached home. Of course with such diverse housing options, the price points in this area are quite varied as well.

Residents of this neighborhood will enjoy the fact that there is a Hyde Park Community Association that organizes events and encourages a close-knit community.

Schools

This area is home to many different schooling options for students. St. John French Immersion Catholic School and St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic fall within the boundaries of this neighborhood and are within walking distance for many of the families in Hyde Park. St. Andre Bessette is also a great choice for secondary school, as it is the most recent secondary school built by the London District Catholic School Board (the doors were officially opened in 2013).

The entire family is covered in this shopping plaza with stores such as Sport Chek, Old Navy, WalMart, Roots, Marshall’s and HomeSense. For dining, residents can head to Kelsey’s Original Roadhouse, Montana’s BBQ & Bar, Boston Pizza, Sushi Galore etc.

For even more amenities, residents can drive about ten-minutes east down Fanshawe Park Road to Masonville. Here, they can find over two-hundred stores, entertainment and dining. Loblaws, Goodlife Fitness (24-hour premium), Indigo, SilverCity London Cinemas, The Keg Steakhouse & Bar, LCBO, The Beer Store and Best Buy are all within this area plus many, many more!

There are relatively large parks found in different areas of this neighbourhood. Residents can head to Canterbury Park, which has play structures, swing sets, and a soccer field. Coronation North Park and Maple Grove Park both have playgrounds and swing sets. All three parks have green space that is great for kicking around a ball, playing catch, or even having a family picnic.

It’s also great to note that the downtown core is only a fifteen-minute drive from Hyde Park. This location is attractive to buyers as they can live away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but can quickly and easily access it from their home. Homeowners without cars are covered as the neighbourhood has three LTC bus routes connecting to the rest of the city. The area has seen a lot of improvement with certain roadworks underway to widen main roads and improve traffic flow.

If you are a potential homebuyer who values proximity to essential amenities and prefers to live on the outskirts of the city, then Hyde Park is right for you.
