Masonville

Location

Masonville is a thriving neighbourhood in the north end of London, Ontario. It falls within the borders of Fanshawe Park Road West (north), follows the Thames River line at King’s University College (south), the boundaries of both Hastings Park and Stoney Creek Meadows (east), and follows Richmond Street (west). It is regarded as one of the finest neighbourhoods in the city and has a fantastic reputation amongst Londoners. Because the location is at the north end of town, it is about fifteen minutes from the city centre. There are plenty of LTC bus stops throughout the neighbourhood, connecting it to Western University and the rest of the city. Masonville is a significant shopping district in the city, making it an ideal location for many demographics, from students all the way to large families.

Neighbourhood

Back in the 1960s, the neighbourhood was mostly farmland. Housing development began in the 1980s, and this area of town has since developed with new residential and commercial phases underway. Now it’s a desirable neighbourhood to live in with so many great amenities close by.

Small apartments, large single-family homes (with and without pools), one-floor condominiums, townhouses and ranches make up a majority of the properties for sale in Masonville. The average list price of homes in this neighbourhood fall into the mid to high $500,000s. Compared to other neighbourhoods in the north end, the residential areas here are more mature. Buyers will be pleasantly surprised to see residential streets complete with unique housing, veering away from the ‘cookie cutter’ style of many new residential neighbourhoods.

Schools

There are a few elementary and secondary options for students living in this area. In fact, St. Kateri Catholic Elementary Schools falls within the boundaries of Masonville and Masonville Public School is directly beside the boundary line of the neighbourhood. This makes both of these schools within walking distance for some of the families. In addition to these options, Masonville is ideal for students attending Western University and King’s University College as it is only a quick bus ride or four-minute drive to campus.
